Oily Cart

Oily Cart is a theatre company that specialises in creating sensory shows for, with and alongside disabled young people (0-25 years) and their families. Oily Cart create remarkable, accessible sensory shows that connect with babies, toddlers, disabled children and young people, and their families. Founded over 40 years ago, in the past decades we have pioneered a whole new artform: Sensory Theatre. By pushing theatre beyond words – using not just 5, but all 33 senses – we create tactile wonderlands that meet each child where they’re at. Each sensory experience is a space to be who you are and be together, re-imagining the world as it should – and will – be. We collaborate with disabled and non-disabled artists of all ages, always considering those who experience the most barriers first. At Oily Cart we don’t tell children how they should watch the theatre. We learn from them what theatre should be.

brainstrust

brainstrust is a brain tumour charity that focuses on support and wellbeing. Little brainstrust is designed for children and teenagers living with a brain tumour diagnosis. Our support specialist for children and families is based in Sussex however has a national role. 500 children a year are diagnosed with a brain tumour, and there are thousands of families living with a brain tumour. Two thirds of children diagnosed with a brain tumour are left with a disability. Families can find communication difficult, and awareness of brain tumours in children is low; this is even though brain tumours now kill more children than any other illness in the UK. We are actively trying to grow clinical links with hospitals and other charities locally and nationally, so that we can collectively work together to provide optimum care to our young patients. Families facing a brain tumour diagnosis of a child feel scared, confused and alone. We know. That’s why we’re working to support families by: Providing unique, honest, coaching-led support by phone (24/7) or email, helping families overcome challenges and find the best possible outcome for their child, and their family Helping families feel less alone by creating communities of peer support, […]

This could be the result of an accident, an illness such as meningitis or encephalitis, a poisoning, a stroke or a brain tumour.A brain injury has a devastating and life-long impact on the child and their whole family. Bones can mend and scars can heal but a brain injury stays with you for life and impacts on everything you think, feel and do. The Child Brain Injury Trust is the charity that supports children, young people, their families and professionals and helps them come to terms with what has happened and how to deal with the uncertainty that the future may hold. We are the charity people turn to about childhood acquired brain injury. Today the Child Brain Injury Trust is the leading voluntary sector organisation providing emotional and practical support, information and learning opportunities for families and professionals affected by childhood acquired brain injury across the UK.
