PAPYRUS – SPARK (Suicide Prevention: Awareness, Resource, Knowledge)

Advice Drop In Educational Exhibition Training Workshop

Tues 20th May 11am-12pm – One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4BX PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide will be hosting a free SPARK session at One Strawberry Lane for anybody working in the North East’s VSCE/non-profit sector 🍓 This session will increase your awareness of suicide and suicide prevention, learn about the charity’s life-saving work, and encourage action for a suicide-safer community. Plus grab loads of our FREE printed help resources and goodies to share with your service users. No need to sign up, just pop along to the Innovation Hub!

Network for Good – March 2025 Join Grace House North East for our monthly networking, connect with like-minded individuals, and gain valuable insights to make a positive impact. Friends of Grace House recieve complimentary places to the event. To learn more about becoming a Friend of Grace House, email Harry at HF@GraceHouse.co.uk. As a charity, we do ask those who aren’t members for a £10 donation for attendance, which will go directly to supporting the disabled children, young people and their families who we support.

The Eden Dora Trust for Children with Encephalitis

The Eden Dora Trust for children with Encephalitis was formed specifically to offer support to children and their families affected by Encephalitis and childhood Acquired Brain Injuries through support, information, education and research. We support children in hospital with Encephalitis and families after hospital discharge, advice on re-integration to school, different forms of rehabilitation, along with working on an Acquired Brain Injury schools award and much much more including raising awareness and funding research into the causes, diagnoses & treatments of Encephalitis/A.B.I; We hold study days & fund training workshops for families, teachers and health care professionals involved with the ongoing care and rehabilitation of children affected by Acquired brain injury and this life changing illness. Helping children and their families feel less isolated, different, misunderstood and alone. The Eden Dora Trust works with the help of their extensive advisory panel and is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to children who suffer from Encephalitis, that anyone can get, at any time. Supporting babies, children and adults living with congenital heart disease. We work in the healthcare sphere, serving patients and supporting staff living and working in the world of congenital heart disease. We have family support worker who signs posts for families, depending on their needs. We also run the fundraising side of what we do, which leads onto supporting meaningful projects that support the NHS specifically for Babies, Children and Adults living with congenital heart disease.

Peeps-HIE

PEEPS HIE are a small UK based national charity (Reg 1179495). We support anyone within the UK affected by a Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy event (H.I.E event) – lack of oxygen to the brain, normally at birth but can occur in older children, regardless of or cause or outcome. We offer free emotional, practical and financial support to anyone affected by H.I.E in the form of counselling, peer support, parent packs, equipment funds and various other means as listed on our website. We offer opportunities for families to meet together in their PEEPS together events, which offers support and the ability to share experiences with other H.I.E families. Calmer Therapy

Calmer Therapy is an organisation based in Stobhill. We provide help and support to families of children with additional needs. We run various sessions from our centre for all different age groups and abilities. At Calmer Therapy we promote an inclusive and enriching environment and believe that everyone deserves a place to be safe, happy and most importantly the chance to be themselves. We also provide advice and support for DLA and PIP forms as well as support with EHCP and school issues. We have recently opened a community café in Lynemouth which aims to provide affordable meals and opportunities for volunteering and employment for post 16 teens with additional needs. Alongside this we also run a food bank, we receive surplus food from supermarkets and distribute to our families.
